The Counselor's Corner

Hello! My name is Tabitha Rush, and I am honored to serve as your Moody Elementary school counselor.

As a lifelong Bearcat, I attended Moody schools from Pre-K through 12th grade, graduating in 2015. It is a true privilege to give back to the community that raised me!

I earned my Education degree from McLennan Community College and Tarleton State University, followed by my Master’s in School Counseling from Lamar University. I’ve spent my entire career in Moody, previously teaching at both the middle school and high school levels. This K-12 background gives me a unique, "big picture" perspective as I support our youngest students at the start of their journeys.

At home, my husband Brennen and I have our hands full in the best way! We share our lives with our 2-year-old twin daughters, Evelynn and Emelia, and three dogs who keep us constantly moving.

I am so excited to partner with you and support your child this year!

Counseling Services and Support

To ensure our Bearcats have everything they need to succeed, I offer both individual and small group counseling designed to support students' educational, social, and emotional needs. My goal is to help remove any barriers to learning so your child can feel confident and successful at school.

How to Access Counseling Services

We work as a team to support our students, and a child can be connected with the counseling program in two primary ways:

Teacher Referrals: Our educators closely monitor student growth and well-being. Teachers will refer students to the counseling office when they notice a child could benefit from extra academic, behavioral, or emotional support.
Parent & Guardian Requests: You know your child best! If you feel your child needs extra support from the school counselor to thrive educationally or navigate a difficult season, please reach out to me directly.

Types of Supports Offered

Individual Counseling: Short-term, goal-oriented support tailored to a student's specific needs, helping them build coping skills, manage big emotions, or overcome classroom hurdles.
Small Group Counseling: A wonderful opportunity for students to connect with peers facing similar experiences (such as social skills, emotional regulation, or life transitions) in a safe, encouraging environment.

TCHATT

Moody ISD is partnering with the Texas Child Health Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) project to provide students with access to behavioral health telemedicine services. These services are free and students will be able to visit with a licensed counselor or psychologist without leaving campus. Please contact our district Social Worker or your child's School Counselor for more information.
